From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch on Sunday, December 13, 2020.  A significant turn-out of Space Coast Region members bringing a great mix of Porsche cars, coupled with great weather, made for a very successful event.  It isn’t often that you see a current IMSA GT3 Cup Car straight off the race track at the Sunday Kaffeeklatsch!

From Robin Hoffman – Space Coast PCA members’ generosity is outstanding!  Thank you all for the toy donations for His Place Ministries this past Saturday!  We had just over 20 cars join in the drive from our Viera Kaffeeklatsch to Melbourne to deliver the loot.  It FILLED a room at the church – including 3 full-sized bikes!  Who says Porsche’s aren’t roomy??  Many kids Christmas morning will be brighter because of our Space Coast Family!  Thanks again everyone!!

From Robin Hoffman – Saturday, August 22nd is a date we have been counting down to as we are finally able to start doing a few Porsche related events. We easily filled the 25 max-number of cars we could have while maintaining our 50 person or less gathering at F. Burton Smith Park. Everyone enjoyed the Rally School but stressed at the 3 hour time limit imposed by our “Evil” Rally Masters David O’Neal and Brian Reinert.

Everyone agreed it was a challenging, but fun rally!

Here are the winning teams:

    • 1st Place Expert: Milt Weisman/Melissa Carns
    • 2nd Place Expert: Scott and Sue Kee
    • 3rd Place Expert: Kevin and Barbara Duffy
    • 1st Place Novice: Glenn Matchett/Derek and Stacy Mueller
    • 2nd Place Novice: Michael Towers/Sally Sange
    • 3rd Place Novice: Scott and Becke Hansen
    • Spirit Award – Coming all the way from the west coast – Vince and Denise Missonak

Thanks to everyone who came out, masked up and followed great social distancing!  A special THANKS to our great rally masters who pride themselves on giving us all a challenge!

From Robin Hoffman – Our Porsche Parade to 7 New Smyrna Beach Assisted Living Facilities was a huge success!  We had a Taycan, a 914, a 356, a 944 a Macan, Boxsters, Cayman’s and more than a few 911’s join in the fun – the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all!  Porsches- what a great way to spread happiness! Happy Father’s Day to all of our Space Coast PCA Dad’s out there!

From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of the Vero Beach Kaffeklatsch on Sunday, June 14, 2020.  There was a large turn out of Space Coast Region members who brought more than thirty Porsches for display.  From classic early 911’s to the latest Porsche models, there was something for everyone to see and experience firsthand.  I hope that you enjoy the photos.

Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch – Sunday, June 14, 2020

From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch on Sunday, March 08, 2020.  Seventeen Space Coast members celebrated the arrival of Daylight Savings Time by bringing their cars to the March Kaffeeklatsch.  An assortment of 911’s (classic to modern), including a 2019 GT3RS, along with a Boxster and two Panamera’s provided plenty to interest the attendees and some passers-by who stopped to take photos of all the Porsches on display.   I hope you enjoy the photos.

From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of “Porsches & Polo” at the Windsor Charity Polo Cup event sponsored by Porsche Melbourne.  A full complement of Space Coast Region members and their Porsches turned-out for a great cause at the Windsor Charity Polo Cup in Vero Beach, FL.  The staff at Porsche Melbourne, our host and a Premier Sponsor of the event, provided great hospitality with Champagne and Gourmet food for everyone to enjoy during the festivities and while watching excellent Polo played by some of the most notable players in the world, with all proceeds of the event going to local charities.  It was a day of beautiful cars, great people, lots of fun, and excellent Polo!  The new Porsche Taycan Turbo S was the featured car of the event which opened with Shay Rowe, Owner and General Manager of Porsche Melbourne, driving the Taycan Turbo S while leading the Polo Teams onto the field to start play, as the Taycan sped away.  The people at Windsor were gracious hosts and were thrilled to see and experience firsthand all the Porsches on display for the “Peoples’ Choice” Concours.  There were many stories traded of past and present Porsches as people browsed through the cars checking the small details and voting for their favorites.  And, the Polo play was outstanding!  As you go through the photos, please don’t stop until you’ve seen the players and their horses in action.  I hope you enjoy the photos.

“Porsches & Polo” at the Windsor Charity Polo Cup on Saturday, February 15, 2020

From Robin Hoffman – Many of our Space Coast PCA members are also members of model-specific clubs.  The 356 Florida Owners Group got together this past weekend to enjoy each other’s company and admire the very first Porsche model – the 356.  356 Florida Owners Group (FOG)  2020 Gathering of the Faithful (GOF) was held at the PLANTATION on CRYSTAL RIVER February 6-9, 2020

With 118 people at the banquets and over 60 356’s on the concours field, this weekend was wonderfully successful! The drive on Friday had a great route and many twists in the road!  The swap meet helped FOG members pretend to offload some of their hoard – but it appeared more like shuffling their treasures around!

Saturday morning was nippy at 36 degrees, but the cars showed well and the air warmed up quickly once the sun came up.  A nice treat on Saturday afternoon was the Fort Island Beach Ice Cream Social in which “All you can eat ice cream” was gulped down by happy drivers and navigators alike!   Saturday concluded with a lovely banquet where more stories were swapped and awards were given out to the People’s Choice Concours winners in each class.

We completed the weekend with a quick Board Meeting in which some plans for drives and events were discussed along with fitting people in “Official” positions within the club. Thank you to all of the coordinators, volunteers and sponsors who made this great event possible.  Members of the club appreciate you!

The Gathering of the Faithful – Feb 2020

From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch on Sunday, February 09, 2020.  It was the largest turnout of members ever with forty-nine people attending and many passers-by stopping to check out all the Porsche cars.  There were many great cars to see, with the star of the event a brand-new Black Porsche Taycan Turbo S brought to us by Chris Huck from Porsche of Melbourne.  It drew a big crowd of on-lookers from adjacent businesses, as well as from our own Space Coast Region members.  Also in the mix was a beautiful red, completely original, pristine Porsche 356 Coupe.  When they were parked side-by-side, the Porsche lineage was complete!

I hope you enjoy the photos.

From Jeff Dorman:  Friday, I went to see the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech classes run at Daytona International Speedway, in preparation for the Rolex 24 Hour race.  It was the start of the IMSA 2020 season.  Lots of new cars and some old favorites.  I’m including photos from the days first few couple of sessions for entrants in the WeatherTech Championship (DPi, P2, GTLM and GTD classes), the Michelin Pilot Series and the Prototype Challenge series.  And a few photos of the garages for each series.  The very last photo is a video of the WeatherTech series cars leaving the paddock to go out on track for the very first time in 2020.  I hope you enjoy these selections.

From David Kelly – Here are links to photos of the action at the “48 Hours at Sebring” PCA Race on Friday (01/31/20) and Saturday (02/01/20).  This is typically PCA’s largest race event and that proved true again this year with Grids full of GT3 Cup Cars, GT3RS’s, and a surprising number of GT2RS’s, in addition to other 911’s, 944’s, 968’s, and Boxsters.  The Paddock was full of race teams and support vendors from end-to-end and there was a steady stream of race cars moving to the Grid throughout both days.  There were five Run Groups comprising the field of racers for Practice sessions on Friday, Sprint Races on Saturday, and two Run Groups for the Enduro Race on Sunday.

There were lots to see on the track and as you walked through the Paddock.  One of the highlights was the presence of Porsche Cars North America with an array of Porsche race cars on display, the most notable of which was one of their limited production GT2RS Club Sport race cars.  It was #190 out of 200 cars produced worldwide and it was a beauty!  It was race-ready; all you needed was the cash to take it home.  There were other things to see as well, such as the raised Rally-based “Dakar-like” red 911 with multiple headlights and mud flaps, or all the variations of GT3RS’s, GT2RS’s, and GT4’s in the Paddock this year.  I’ve never seen so many in one place in any of the prior years.

A steady rain fell throughout Saturday, but that did not stop the action on the track and in the Paddock.  Racing continued uninterrupted with full Grids throughout the day with plenty to see in the Paddock as well.  I hope you enjoy the photos.
