Photo Galleries of 2016 Events attended by Space Coast
From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch on Sunday, December 11, 2016. It was a great turn-out of Space Coast Region PCA members, especially on a cloudy overcast day. Click on the link, select a photo, and go through them one-at-a-time to see a variety of Porsche cars, with a mix of classic and new models, all in one place. You’ll see a great group of people too, just having fun with their cars on a Sunday morning. Hope you enjoy the photos.
From David Kelly – The links below will take you to photos of the Historic Sports Car Races at Sebring this past weekend. You’ll see vintage race cars from the “Golden Age of Racing” in action on the track and in the team garages throughout the Paddock. There were plenty of Porsches to see; several of them with long racing histories and many wins, and driven by well-known racing drivers. There were many other famous Marques competing head-to-head during the weekend, which should be easily recognizable as you view the photographs. You’ll see a former Formula 1 driver and World Sports Car Champion participating in the pre-race festivities along Pit Road (and two 911 race cars in the garage area bearing his name as the driver). You’ll also undoubtedly find the red Kremer 935 and its racing history very interesting.
There was a display of World War II era vintage aircraft and military vehicles at the track for the weekend and you’ll see a few of the military vehicles cruising through the Paddock during the race sessions. There was something for everyone who may be interested in vintage machinery, especially vintage race cars of all sorts.
You’ll see the most detail if you can view the photos individually on a large screen. I hope that you enjoy them.
From David Kelly – At the link below you will find photos of the Oktoberfest Concours, BBQ & Swap Meet held at F. Burton Smith Park in Cocoa, FL. You will find a few interesting details, especially in the images of the cars taken in the Blue and Yellow Garage area, and of the race cars as they are staged on the Grid.

From David Kelly – The link below will take you to photos of the August 14, 2016 Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch. Twelve members attended, braving overcast skies and a light drizzle, to display their Porsches for all to see. It was another gathering of great cars and nice people!

From David Kelly – Please click on the link below to see photos of the July 17, 2016 Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch. Another great turn-out with twenty-four members participating, and a great variety of Porsche cars too! Look closely as you go through the photos to see the details of each car. One of them has an unusual feature to be found if you have very sharp eyes. I hope you enjoy the photos.
From David Kelly – Here is a link to photos of the June 12, 2016 Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch. There were twenty Space Coast Region members participating and bringing along an interesting variety of Porsche cars for display. Several Turbo’s, a beautiful GT3, a new Macan GTS, a 928S, and an early 911S, were among many others being checked out by the group. There were a few interesting surprises as well.
Just click on the link below, then select (click on) the first photo, and go through them one-at-time to see the most detail. You should find a few things which interest you. I hope that you enjoy them.
From Turbo Don – 26 Porsche’s with 46 people left Sam’s Club and went 72 miles on back country roads to Geneva, FL. The weather was picture perfect without a drop of rain making it a great drive day.
From David Kelly: Here is a link to photos of the May 15, 2016 Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch. We had a very large turn-out with thirty-three members attending. There was a wide range of Porsches on display, including some very desirable historic models, along with some of Porsche’s latest technology as well. It was another great get-together as you’ll see from all of the smiling faces in the group photo! Just click on the link below, select the first photo, and go through them one-at-a-time to see the most detail. I hope that you enjoy them.
From Robin Hoffman – At the 911 – 991 Generation 2 – Launch Party (April 2016) Porsche of Melbourne treated members of the Space Coast PCA to a wonderful evening of food, entertainment and of course the unveiling of another beautiful Porsche. Thanks to the great people at Porsche of Melbourne. Please enjoy these photos of a great evening.
From David Kelly – Below is a link to photos of the 2016 “Turbo Mayhem” event at BreitWerks in Melbourne, FL. Thanks to the efforts of our SPC Region Officers, the Turbo Mayhem Event Planning Committee, a great group of committed speakers and sponsors, and most especially, Jason Breitfeller, the hard-working host and Master of Ceremonies for today’s event, it was a tremendous success in every way imaginable.
Click on the photo link, select the first photo and go through them one-at-a-time to see the most detail. You’ll see prime examples of almost every model of Porsche Turbo production cars made.
From David Kelly – The link below will take you to photos of the cars at the April 16, 2016 “Wheels & Keels” show, which is held annually at the Moorings Yacht & Country Club in Vero Beach. The cars are normally displayed on the Moorings Golf Course, but overnight rain this year necessitated a change of venue to the St. Edwards School parking lot. The inclement weather also reduced the number of cars on display, but you’ll still see some interesting ones in the mix of new, older, and vintage American and European cars.
One of the main sponsors for the event was Porsche of Melbourne, and they were there with a full complement of new Porsches. McLaren was also a sponsor and they brought along two brightly painted McLaren’s for the crowd to see. You’ll also find a few vintage Porsches mixed with Ferrari’s and BMW’s among the sports cars on display.
Just click on the link, select the first photo, then go through them individually to see the most detail. I hope that you enjoy them.
From David Kelly – There is a link below to photos of the April 10, 2016 Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch. We had a large turn-out, with approximately twenty-seven members attending. As you can see from the photos, there was an excellent mix of Porsche cars as well. One of our members brought his newly restored Sunbeam Tiger (sorry that I didn’t get any photos of it), and it was a hit with the crowd as well.
A local business owner stopped by with his red Ferrari to take a look at all of the Porsches, and we had an Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputy, who is also a Porsche fan, come by to see them as well.
It was another good day with some great Porsche people and some really great cars. Hope you enjoy the photos.
From David Kelly: The link below will take you to photos of the 2016 “12 Hours of Sebring” Race held on March 19. You’ll see pre-dawn activity in the team garages and throughout the Paddock, as well as the historic race cars on display in the Hall of Champions. You will also see the race cars parked along Pit Road before race start so that race fans can see them firsthand. There was a sizable crowd again this year.
You will get a peek at some of the monitors the race teams use to assess conditions during the race. And, you will see brief fireworks and a fly-over as the race cars come through Turn #17 onto the front straight for the official start of the 2016 “12 Hours of Sebring.”
Race conditions were very challenging this year with heavy rain coming not long after the race began which eventually led to red flag conditions, stopping the race for a period of more than two hours, during which time crews worked to clear the track of standing water. The race was restarted with the drivers continuing to deal with lingering issues with standing water until track conditions improved.
Our PCA members were dedicated as well, with many viewing the race from the comfort of the Porscheplatz, while others braved the weather to see the race action firsthand from their seats in the open Porsche Club grandstand.
The rain and overcast skies, as well as the early pre-dawn activity in the team garages presented photographic challenges this year as well. Hopefully, you’ll find some photos which interest you, and also which may help to portray the feeling of actually being there. It’s best to view them individually in full screen mode.
I hope that you enjoy them.
From David Kelly: Here is a link to photos of the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch on Sunday, March 13, 2016. Great weather for Porsche cars and for our PCA members who had lots of fun sharing stories over coffee and checking out the cars on display.
Just click on the link, then select the first photo and go through the remaining images at your own speed. Feel free to download any that you like.
From Jurgen (928S): Here is the KaffeeKlatsch report for today 2-14-2016. We had a great turnout. Total of 17 PCA members. Our President Scott Kee
was also there. Weather was perfect. Also had one very rare slant nose 911 turbo, a very clean 944 and lots of other great 911’s, Boxters and Cayenne’s and a very nice 356. The pictures are not nearly as good as David Kelly’s, as I only had my phone with me.
From Susan comes a collection of excellent photos from the SPC Region Polo & Porsche event in support of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup at the Windsor Club in Vero Beach. Members gathered on Saturday, February 13 at Porsche of Melbourne for coffee and a light breakfast before the drive to Vero Beach and all of the festivities. Congrats to our peoples choice concours winner!
From Carmen DeVito: Here are some pictures, taken by Sue DeVito of the Space Coast participants from Saturday’ regional Autocross at the 48 HR of Sebring event. I do not know the results but I am sure we all did well and enjoyed the day…until it rained. 🙂
From David Kelly: You’ll find links below to photos of the action on Friday and Saturday at the “48 Hours at Sebring” PCA Race. There was a large turn-out of race teams and cars for the event, despite the very chilly temperatures on Friday and Saturday morning. In addition to the regular complement of GT3 Cup cars and other modern 911 variants, there were a great many Cayman’s and Boxsters racing in the event. There were also more 968’s and 944’s competing than in recent years at Sebring.
Another thing that stood out was the large contingent of eighties-era 911 race cars in the Paddock and on the track. They practically filled a “Run Group” by themselves and raced head-to-head for some spectacular action on the track. And, they are still fast!
I tried to capture unusual details in the team garages and throughout the Paddock, so hopefully you’ll find some things in the photos that interest you. There are a great many photos so it is probably best to browse through them first to find the ones which interest you the most, then view them in full screen mode to see the most detail. I hope you enjoy them.
From David Kelly: Below is a link to photos of the action at the Rolex Daytona 24 Hour Race on Saturday. The crowd seemed to be larger than in previous years with more vendor and brand-specific automobile displays, along with several driving simulators and other entertainment.
The Porsche Corral was full with models of every vintage, many drivers of which had traveled long distances to share in the excitement of Porsche’s efforts to bring home a win in this prestigious race. Our local PCA Regions did a great job of setting-up and managing the Porsche Corral so that PCA members had a comfortable place to relax and watch the race, and for those who wanted it, a track-side view of the action.
There is something for everyone in the photos, from the Porsche Factory #911 RSR and #912 RSR race cars and the Porsche driving teams, to the vintage race cars participating in the historic race prior to the main event. You’ll see many details of the race cars in the garages and many dedicated Porsche fans in the crowds, along with lots of beautiful Porsches in the Porsche Corral.
Hopefully, you’ll find the photos interesting. It is best to view them in full screen mode to see as many details as possible.
You see many things at major sports car races, like the Rolex Daytona 24 Hour race and the 12 Hours of Sebring. One thing that stands out is how dedicated Porsche fans are. When you see a dedicated Porsche fan, you know it instantly. Such is the case with this fan:
From David Kelly: Here is a link to photos of the January 24, 2016 Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch. It was another good turn-out of our local SPC Region members despite the chilly morning temperatures. There was a great showing of Porsche models too, with newer 911’s, two Boxster’s, a Cayman, and two Cayenne’s, mixed with classic air-cooled 911’s, a Euro 930, an immaculate 944, two well-maintained 928’s, and a beautiful classic Rolls Royce convertible just passing through to look at the Porsches on display.
You can see from the many smiles that everyone had a great time!
