From David Kelly – Here are links to photos of the Space Coast Region Drive to the Larry Wilson Car Collection and to Brian Redman’s “Targa Sixty-Six” event on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
If you like rare sports cars and rare race cars this was the Space Coast Region event for you! The Larry Wilson Collection houses some of the most desirable and sought-after collector cars in the country. It’s a living collection, in that it is constantly changing as various unique cars become available, and as others are restored through an onsite fabrication shop. The cars are not in a static display, but rather regularly started and occasionally driven in various events, such as Brian Redman’s “Targa Sixty-Six” at Palm Beach International Raceway. You will no doubt find one of your favorites in the photos of the collection.
Next, was the short drive to Brian Redman’s event where Space Coast members were treated to seeing rare and exotic race cars in action on the track and throughout the Paddock. Two rare Porsche 962’s were present and on the track along with other high performance marques demonstrating their racing heritage and capabilities. There were plenty of historic racing 911’s and 914’s there as well, so there was something for anyone who is a Porsche fan. The highlight of the day for many of Space Coast members was the opportunity to take their own Porsches out on the track for an extended session of “spirited laps.” There were many smiles as the cars came off the track! There was much to see in the Paddock as well, and our members took full advantage of that to take photos and check out all the race cars. It was a great event with great people in two great venues. Many thanks to Don Silverzahn for planning and leading this Space Coast Region event and for making all the arrangements with the Wilson Collection and with Brian and James Redman for the Space Coast Region at Targa Sixty-Six.
I hope you enjoy the photos.
