From Robin Hoffman – Space Coast Region may have been small in numbers at the 70th Porsche Parade in Lake Placid, NY this past week, but those of us who attended had big fun and brought home some awards. Most notable was our webmaster, Jeff Dorman, who won 2nd Place in the National Website Contest. Congratulations, Jeff! You are actually #1 in our eyes!!
Leonard Whitlock scored an almost perfect concours score with 299.5 with his 1968 911 S Targa, achieving the Gmund Gold award.
Joe Pelligrino took Honorable Mention with a great race painting in the Art Show, and Team Hoffman took 5th (out of 230 teams) in the Gimmick Rally.
Our very own Zone 12 won the Curling Challenge. Porsche unveiled the Pixar Toy Story Cars, and it was great fun looking at the Woody, Buzz, and Jessie-inspired models!
Between the Concours, Drives, Autocross, Olympic, and Social Events, the 7-day event went by in the blink of an eye! Lake Placid is a stunning location (even in the rain!) with so much Olympic history!
We actually had our banquets at Parade on the ice in the Herb Brooks Arena where the “Miracle on Ice” happened at the 1980 Olympics. Some of us got to hold the Olympic Torch!

Great Parade photos, Robin! We were there also. We had dinner with Steve & Alice Tarr one night at The Cottage and saw Tom & Elaine Gorsuch several times. Great Porsche Parade! Bob & Brigitta Snider, Central Indiana Region and went on the Space Coast Westbrook Ranch Hoedown in ‘24.
