This article describes replacing the battery in your Porsche key fob. This is a regular maintenance item that needs to take place after you get a low key fob battery warning message in your car. It is best to consult your owner’s manual to see what type of battery is required. The manual will also show you how to access the battery for replacement.
My 2015 Cayenne requires a CR2032 battery, YMMV.
Roughly the procedure is:
• Separate the key fob from any key ring you may have.
• Remove the emergency key.
• Using a small screw drive remove the back cover of the key fob.
• Remove the old battery noting the polarity (for my car the + side faces you).
• Install the new battery noting the polarity.
• Install the back cover by pressing it firmly into place.
• Re-insert the emergency key into the key fob.
• Re-install the key ring and keys you may have.

Depending upon your key fob design these steps may vary. Again check your owner’s manual for reference.
