From Colette Glencross – Many thanks to Space Coast Region members for financial donations to Toys for Tots North Brevard (T4T) this year, and a very special THANK YOU to the seventeen members who participated in SPC Volunteer Day with T4T. Armed with a family list and a Lowe’s shopping cart our SPC members put thought and heart into picking out toys for the children on their list – newborns to teenagers!
Between SPC and T4T Volunteers, we were able to shop for 100 families! That made a huge impact for T4T which currently has over 1,200 families registered (approximately 4,000 children)!
While enjoying the SPC members’ sponsored lunch, Steve Tarr, Club President, presented Denise, T4T Coordinator, a package of gift cards amounting to almost $3,000 from this year’s SPC events, where all or a portion of the registration fees were dedicated to T4T. Eyes welled up a bit as Denise and Brandy (Assistant Coordinator) were overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness of SPC.
All I could think as I watched our members intent on their shopping duties, their engagement with T4T volunteers, their interest in the functions of the operatio,n and their desire to return to volunteer again….. we are blessed with members who, without thinking, really do live our motto…… “It’s not just the cars….it’s the PEOPLE”.
