70th Anniversary of PCA Celebration
From – Robin Hoffman
What a fantastic celebration we had! We had 90+ Porsches and over 170 people attending to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of PCA at the Warbird Valiant Air Command Museum at the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville on Sept 13th, 2025.
As members arrived, they were given 70th Anniversary pins from PCA and tumblers from Porsche Melbourne. Then it was off to have a photo taken in front of the F-11 Fighter Jet before parking and checking out all the beautiful Porsches in the parking lot.
A display of 7 decades of Porsches was set up in front of the hangar, which included 356’s, 911’s, Boxsters, and a 944 Turbo. Porsche Melbourne brought a new 2025 Macan EV to the party. A BBQ lunch was served, and our program included a video of 70 years of PCA and raffle prizes.
Inside the museum, there were many aircraft and military exhibits on display. We have been there before, but there is always something new to see as they are constantly restoring aircraft onsite and acquiring others on loan from other institutions. Most of them are naval aircraft with significant histories, like a Vietnam-era F4 Phantom and an F14 Tomcat (Top Gun), along with many others. The Sikorsky “Sea Dragon” helicopter is a monster machine! Member, David Kelly states, “The displays at the Museum honoring the courage and sacrifice of the men and women of our military for our country always move me.”
Lots of interesting people were there too. There was Larry Sietsma, who was reunited with the restored F8 Crusader Fighter, the exact same one he had piloted all those years ago. The guest speaker for the day was Colonel Dale Holland, USAF Ret., 89th Air Force Wing Vice Commander, who co-directed the Air Force Mobility Wing and was in the cockpit of Air Force One on 09/11, with the responsibility for coordinating and managing the transport of the President, first family, and members of Congress on that day. He took us through a minute-by-minute account of what happened that day, including all the decisions, logistics, emergency communications, the dispatch of fighter aircraft from different locations and squadrons, and the intelligence updates received as they flew Air Force One. It was a riveting story!
As the grand door prize, Ron Lueck, the CEO of Comp Air Aviation, donated a ride in his new carbon fiber airplane (made in Titusville!). Harriet and Skip Jerome were the lucky winners and took to the air after the event for their flight.
This wonderful event was set up and run by a team of people – Steve Tarr and Joe Radosky did the heavy lifting to make it happen, and we appreciate it. Thank you!
