From David Kelly – The annual Space Coast Region “Oktoberfest Concours, BBQ & Swap Meet” was held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at F. Burton Smith Park in Cocoa, FL. This year’s event was marked by having the largest number of participants ever, with PCA members coming from as far away as Jacksonville and Tampa, in addition to members of the 356 Owners Group, all to join in the fun and camaraderie. The event was sponsored by “356 Unlimited” and managed and orchestrated by Steve and Robin Hoffman, in addition to Steve Tarr (SPC Region President) and other SPC volunteers.
There were over one hundred and twenty-five members who enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring traditional Oktoberfest food prepared by Coasters Tavern, after which they participated for awards and prizes in the fun-filled Tech Quiz and checked out offerings on the Swap Meet tables. A professional DJ (“Car Cynic DJ Sound”) was onsite and provided great music throughout the day for all the attendees.
Another aspect of the event was the large number of food items brought by PCA members to be donated to the “Food Pantry of Indian River County” to help those in need and impacted by the recent hurricane and tornados.
Cars in the concours event were arranged and judged in five classes, with additional awards for the “Best in Show” car and the “Peoples Choice” car. There were many outstanding examples of almost every model of Porsche on display which made it extremely difficult to select the very best ones and winners for every class.
