From Robin Hoffman – On Sunday Jan 11th, a small group of Space Coasters made our way to Kissimmee to visit the biggest collector car auction in the world – Mecums! This auction is amazing – it takes over the entire Silver Spurs Arena and grounds with tent after tent from Jan 6-18th. It’s a HUGE car show that fuels the dream of buying more beautiful cars!
This year, Ferraris are the model of choice with some incredible collections rolling across the block – some without reserves!
Of the 4500+ cars being auctioned, only 76 are Porsches. We saw some beauties today – including a Steve McQueen 917 LeMans car! Porsches seem to be fetching some good prices too!
There is still time to visit the show – it’s about $30 to come as a spectator and a bit more to be a bidder. Join us in the drive over next year! We met up for lunch after spending a few hours enjoying the cars and memorabilia – it was a very fun day!
